FEBRUARY 2025

Dear readers
Dear reader
Another month has passed, which means you'll be supplied with news from Mallorca again.

Small review

In January I reported to you with great euphoria that our year had got off to a great start and we were full of confidence that it would continue like this. The cheeky little Chiwawa Herkules, who we were able to rescue from a terrible breeding centre, quickly found his family and was allowed to fly to Germany. On the same day, the beautiful cat Seda was able to travel to her forever home on the same plane as Herkules. With the water dog Lillie it went very well with the family and getting to know each other. After a short time, however, it turned out that Lillie was not neutered as the former owner had stated. Neutering is of course very important for us animal welfare activists, it is obligatory for all animals. For us as a reputable animal welfare organisation, it was a very unpleasant situation to learn that we had placed a dog that had not been spayed or neutered. The new family is so happy with Lillie that this is not a problem for them. All that remained for us to do was to apologise and, of course, get her spayed. Lillie is now being neutered by our lovely vet Jann in Switzerland.

A heartbreaker on four legs

We had hoped that the adoptions would continue so that we could once again take in animals that urgently need help. There was a brief glimpse of hope when we received another commitment to adopt the little Border Collie mix male Coco. Coco came to us in December. A rascal to the power of three. He was with a family with his sister. This time we can't say that he had a bad home, nor was he treated wrongly or badly. Quite the opposite in fact. They simply didn't have time to do him justice, so they looked for a new place for him. This is also animal welfare. If you realise that you are not doing an animal justice, make a sensible decision instead of letting the animal suffer, punishing it or, even worse, simply handing it over to the shelter or abandoning it.
Coco has taken Farah's heart by storm and should get his chance to be socialised in a pack with us.
After a visit to us at Finca Noah, Manuela had a few very emotional days. She also immediately took Coco to her heart. The decision to offer Coco a home in Switzerland was a decision of the heart. Both of them took on the challenge and the new adventure with great joy. When they arrived in Switzerland, the first thing they did was go shopping. Little Coco was not used to the cold, so a winter coat was needed, which he was very happy to put on without any problems after a short time. There was great joy on all sides. But then came the news that Manuela's health was not good. It became increasingly difficult for her to look after the whirlwind. Initially, the family helped out, but that was only an emergency solution. With a heavy heart, Manuela had to return Coco to Finca Noah in Mallorca. The only one who was not at all impressed by all the back and forth was the little whirlwind Coco. He has been back in our pack for a few weeks now as if he had always been part of it. He's a clever little chap who has a lot going on behind his ears. His loving, sensitive and cuddly moments make up for his tireless energy. So Coco will stay with us until we have found the perfect family for him this time. And who knows, maybe Finca Noah will be his new home and Farah his new mum. To be honest, Farah is already very much in love with the little one....

Welcome back

I introduced you to the lovely but difficult Pastor Mallorquin Mischon in the July 2024 newsletter. Her story, with the supposed happy ending, some of you may still remember, or just go to the homepage and read it again. After two years in kennels, she was adopted by dear friends who wanted to give her a chance at a new life. A task that would not be easy, we all knew that. Nevertheless, they turned their lives upside down for Mischon and worked with her and a dog trainer. Things got better, Mischon learnt more each time, and her handling got better. Unfortunately, the joy didn't last long. Mischon fell back into her old pattern and everyday life with her became increasingly stressful. The impressions and influences she was exposed to on walks were too much for a dog like her. In her familiar surroundings, such as at home with her family, Mischon is a loving and very affectionate, cuddly and playful dog. Only the fast pace of life outside her familiar surroundings was too much of a challenge for Mischon and her fears. For humans and animals. It really wasn't an easy decision, but we took Mischon back home after 6 months. We don't blame anyone here, we acted in good time and looked for a solution that we hope will be the best for Mischon. The new family, Nisha and Thorsten, will continue to be her mum and dad. They have taken over the sponsorship for Mischon and are working feverishly on a solution so that Mischon can be with them, just not in Switzerland. Until then, she will simply go on holiday at Finca Noah. So it remains exciting and emotional at the same time. We will support her wherever she is needed so that the family can be reunited quickly. Baby Mischon is already sorely missed.

New sponsorships section on the homepage

If it can't always be an adoption, you can also support our animals with a sponsorship. Have a look at our homepage with the newly designed sponsorship section. Our wonderful animals have put themselves in the right light for you and given everything for a perfect photo, because now the animals introduce themselves "personally". Anyone who wants to sponsor an animal is mainly supporting their sponsored animal with food and veterinary costs, which is a considerable sum every month. With over 250 animals, this adds up to quite a lot. You can of course give your sponsored animal a name if no name has yet been given. A sponsorship does not only exist on paper, we will make it as personal as possible. We will be happy to send you regular information, photos and videos of your sponsored child if you wish. A really great artist, Julia Filk, provided us with hand-painted works of art for auction at the Salto Spenden Gala in November 2024 in favour of the animals of Animal Police. Once again, she was very creative and supported the sponsorship project. She has drawn a hand-painted, exclusive, unique and, as we think, mega great sponsorship certificate. With the original animals of Finca Noah. You can be very excited. Brian will be happy to add the link to the homepage and the sponsorship section so that you can choose a sponsored child immediately (after you have finished reading the newsletter) with just a few clicks.
At this point I would like to briefly mention that Brian is not only the Vice President and co-founder of Animal Police, but also our IT specialist. The homepage was designed by him and every month dear Brian sends out the newsletter to you dear readers.
