Hello, you diligent readers.
We hope that you all had a good and above all healthy start to the New Year.
Over the past year, we have reported month by month about our everyday life in animal welfare, which animals we have rescued. How many we were able to accompany to their forever homes, and what hurdles we have to overcome here in Spain / Mallorca.
The new year has only just begun, but there has already been a lot going on here at Finca Noah.
With the help of an animal-loving friend of Farah de Tomi, we were able to rescue the little dog Hercules, a self-confident and sometimes megalomaniac Chiwawa, from the clutches of a breeder. For years, the little Chiwawa was abused for breeding, kept in a tiny cage and left to fend for himself 24/7 with just a little food and water. No cuddles, no love, no attention, no playing and running around with like-minded people, no warm place to sleep. He was a little overwhelmed with all the big dogs here on the finca for the first few days, but quickly settled in and imagined he was at least as big and important as the black German shepherd Eloy, who is the boss of the whole pack of dogs here on Finca Noah.
After just a few weeks, we have already found little Hercules his family, his forever home and his place on the sofa. He was allowed to fly to Germany to the lovely Iris and turn his new mum's everyday life completely upside down with his new dog buddies.
Dear Lillie, a water dog, has also found happiness and is allowed to fly to beautiful but currently cold Switzerland in the next few days. Her family is already eagerly waiting for the little one, who was given to us by her former owners after 7 years because they left Mallorca and thought that Lillie would not be happy with her new living situation. Sometimes we are speechless. In Lillie's case, however, we realised that no amount of talking and explaining would help, Lillie was simply no longer loved, otherwise the owners would have found a solution. Now Lillie should get a second chance and be a loyal companion and friend again. Thanks to our vet Jann and his lovely wife Manuela, we have been able to place Lillie in a very loving family.
A little kitten was also allowed to go travelling and now enjoys a warm bed with lots of cuddles all day long. We are happy for every single one of our fosterlings who have arrived, been nursed and socialised and then allowed to travel to their forever homes. We are always in contact with the adoptive parents and experience the development in the new home up close.
Please keep your fingers crossed that the placement/adoptions continue to go as well as the first few weeks of the new year. This is the only way we can take in animals that urgently need help.
Noble birds enjoy their new habitat
We are so proud to welcome peacocks back to the finca. In 2022 we had nine peacocks that suddenly all disappeared. Unfortunately, we don't know what happened to them, but we really missed them with their beauty and their loud calls. They were able to move freely around the whole property, just like our 4 new peacocks. They need their space to fly and to discover their habitat, so it is a horror for us if these animals are locked up. There are two beautiful males and two females.
We hope that we have a better handle on finding eggs with the hens than with our chickens.
Joyful splashing in the pool
The four peacocks have brought friends with them. They have been together with geese, who looked at us when we picked up the peacocks as if they were asking and what about us, can we come too? Our geese Doris and Jakob, who we took in as babies in June 2024, have now become magnificent geese, cheeky as teenagers are, and are still eating the hair off our heads. We wanted to give the two playmates and the two new geese, Pilar and Salvar, a nice life with their own pool. The four of them are happily united and enjoy most of their lives splashing around.
Secure a sponsorship for your favourite animal
All the animals that we take in are happy to receive a Sponsorship, If no name has been given yet, you are welcome to choose a name for the respective sponsored child/animal. We are committed to sustainable animal welfare and therefore welcome regular financial support for our animals. With a sponsorship you help our animals on a monthly basis, so that we can support the animal feed and veterinary costs in the long term.
Thank you very much for your attentive reading, I wish you all the best and I am already looking forward to telling you about our animal stories again in February.
Your Nadine De Tomi
