Hello, dear and always loyal readers.
I, Nadine, from the Animal Police Team, would like to welcome you again today and take you into the animal world with the news from Finca Noah.

Fly little bird fly fly...

We have received an emergency call, a call for help from tourists. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing that upsets us, because we are contacted daily by several people, such as animal rights activists, locals and especially tourists with different kinds of calls for help. And after all, we are Animal Police, we help every animal, we stand up for every animal, we always find a solution so that every animal that needs help also gets help.
Nadine, a tourist, her husband and daughter found a bird lying on the ground. They couldn't and didn't want to simply look the other way as many other people would have done and do without scruples.
They didn't know much about the animal and found it lonely, starving and in a very exhausted state. Neither Nadine nor her family could tell us on the phone what kind of bird it was. We offered our help and Nadine and her family brought the bird to Finca Noah where the big puzzle began. Because even we weren't 100% sure at first what kind of bird was sitting in front of us. Raven, eagle, vulture, buzzard or a mixture of all of them, we didn't know. We sought advice from Doctor Google. Finally we knew. The little bird that had probably fallen out of the nest and was lying there helplessly without mum, without water, without food and without protection from danger, was a wood pigeon chick.
My son Juan looked at the pigeon sitting on his hand and told him, "Well, little one, let's see you grow up." ....
Hello Carlo/Carla (we have not yet found out whether the pigeon is female or male), I am now your dad!
Juan fed the pigeon every 2 hours with a porridge-like feed, rearing feed for birds. Using a syringe, he fed the food into the beak until the crop was full and the pigeon was satiated. Day after day, we could watch the pigeon develop. From a little ugly thing, it slowly became a pigeon with feathers. As in nature, the pigeon slowly wanted to leave the nest and learn to fly. In our large aviary of around 200 square metres, Juan very patiently taught him to fly bit by bit. The two pigeons that have already found their place in the aviary after they came to us injured have accepted the pigeon chick and certainly both were a role model for the chick, because learning to fly was quick and easy. Now they have to learn to eat on their own. Then Carlo/Carla can also leave his nest at night, because he is still in the care of his surrogate dad Juan at night. It is so beautiful to see how a small helpless creature becomes an independent pigeon that shows soooo much gratitude to its surrogate dad Juan and will certainly not leave his side. A bond, a friendship for life.
And no sooner have we breathed a sigh of relief that Juan has actually managed to lovingly raise the pigeon than the next emergency call comes, a pigeon chick is lying alone in the garden....
We will tell you about the pigeon rearing centre, so much for now, Juan is really looking forward to giving another pigeon a life and seeing it fly around with a big smile on its face.
Juan, you are the greatest, thank you for your loving support.

Where are the eggs?

They say that even a blind hen finds a grain of corn. We in the Animal Police team are blind at the moment and can no longer find the hens' eggs on the farm. There are a few places that we know where a breakfast egg is regularly laid almost every day, but the large nests are so well hidden that we really struggle to find them. Our hens and cockerels are free-range chickens. They are allowed to roam freely all over the Finca Noah property. All our charges at Finca Noah respect and tolerate each other. A peaceful coexistence. The chickens even share breakfast with the free-range cats from time to time, sleep with the horses and claim the soft horse box, run around with the sheep and play with the sheep's small droppings, talk excitedly and have decided for themselves that they have to crow at 2.00 am. At our pig Magritt, they compete to see who gets the fresh fruit and vegetables first. This month we have seen two proud mums with their chicks in tow. We feed our chickens fresh fruit and vegetables, they love it. As soon as I start work on the farm in the morning, preparing breakfast for the animals, all the little chicks come running towards me, they know that the buffet is about to open.
Little chicks are really cute, but they grow up and if we still can't find the nests, we'll soon no longer be Finca Noah, but the Chicken Farm. It's like Easter, if you can't find the hidden egg, you'll get a surprise a little later.

Luna is visiting

Some of you may know Farah from her beginnings 4.5 years ago. When Farah started with animal welfare. When Farah started with her thoughts, plans and wishes to build safe enclosures for the poor souls of the Mallorcan streets. As soon as the first kennel was finished, the first emergency call came. A large black Pastor Mallorquin bitch with her little puppies. The little puppies were quickly placed, mummy stayed with us.
We welcomed a big visitor to Finca Noah, Patricia Kelly, with her sons, Eske and her husband. Patricia fell in love with the dog. Love, sympathy and trust at first sight, on both sides. It was a done deal from the very first moment. Patricia wanted this dog. After a brief discussion with her family, her husband Dennis was also convinced that the two simply belonged together.
After such a long time, Luna visited us at Finca Noah. It was a very emotional moment for Farah to see her again. Luna also felt very comfortable and I'm sure Luna hasn't forgotten who she has to thank for giving her a second life. Who rescued her from the clutches of these animal abusers. Luna was in the care of people who used her as a birthing machine to sell her puppies. That the animal trade is bad in itself is not up for discussion, but much worse are the conditions under which these poor dogs are kept. Now Luna has the best home you could wish for. We are not giving up on finding a forever home for many more dogs, and believe us we will succeed.

You can be a big part of this. With a sponsorship for our rescued animals/dogs, with a donation for the vet costs or a visit to Finca Noah to look after and cuddle the animals.
We look forward to welcoming you soon.
Thank you for taking the time every month to let us take you into our animal welfare world.
Nadine
