OCTOBER 2024

Dear readers, it's that time again. The newsletter that takes you to Finca Noah, to Mallorca, is back.

With suffering, love, joy, pain and many tears, we really give everything for the animals.
Once again, we have a very emotionally charged month behind us.

Sweet surprise in the rabbit warren

With our help, a kind lady from Palma rescued two rabbits from very poor conditions. The two rabbits were kept in a small cage in which they could hardly move. What's more, and certainly much worse, the cage was standing with the rabbits on a roof terrace in the sun, in the summer heat. It goes without saying that we are not talking about species-appropriate husbandry here, and the two would certainly not have survived any longer.
In our rabbit enclosure, they immediately loved it so much that they enjoyed the salad, carrots, apples, cucumbers, tomatoes etc. very much. We take every animal we rescue to the vet. An appointment was made for the two of them to be neutered straight away, because during the general examination the vet realised that they were not two females as we had assumed, but female and male. What was concealed from us, perhaps unknowingly, was that the female rabbit was already pregnant when she arrived. Quietly, hidden in the straw, in a warm and safe nest prepared by her mum, she gave birth to her five babies. After neutering, she didn't want to breastfeed any more, so we fed the babies with a milk bottle. Two of the babies unfortunately didn't make it, they were the smallest of the litter, they got our full attention, we really did everything we could to watch them all grow up, but they were just too weak. The three little snow white rabbit babies now enjoy the attention of their mum, because the little family is always together, still cuddling in their little nest.
The mummy has been given the name Lina. We are currently looking for sponsors who are willing to sponsor the babies to cover the vet costs and food costs for the little ones. We are also very grateful for name suggestions. So please do not hesitate to write us an email if you would like to name one of the babies as your godchild.

Shock moment for our little sheep Angel

Our smallest and youngest sheep Angel is currently our problem child out of a total of 7 sheep. Angel is a little clumsy clod, one who only has silly things on his mind, a loyal soul, almost a little burdock or storker. He loves to run alongside people like a dog. After all, he was bottle-fed by Farah in the middle of a pack of dogs. So we don't hold it against him if he wants to be more dog than sheep.
Angel injured his ear during the night. We found him with a bleeding wound, which apparently became infected the same night and part of his ear had already died. Our vet, Barbara, comes from Soller, a 1.5 hour drive away, but she has fallen in love with every single one of our sheep and is happy to make the long journey. Unfortunately, she couldn't save Angel's ear completely. Barbara the vet had to amputate part of the ear. When we are confronted with such a decision, we don't have to think twice. We always have the welfare and life/survival of the animal at heart. Angel can now walk around without his bandage around his head and tease all his mates. Barbara now affectionately calls him Nemo (the little clownfish from the film Nemo is the namesake) and we are more than happy with the healing of the wound, which was a bit of a nervous game, because such medical treatments are "fortunately" not part of everyday life. Angel is still our little klutz, even though part of his ear is missing. True beauty comes from within. We love all our animals just as they are. And all our animals are just the way they are, perfect.

From the road to the safety of Finca Noah

We have rescued two poor little souls from Natura Parc! We didn't just get the two kittens out or release them. When we say rescued, we mean it. Because an animal that is as obvious as these two kittens, who have almost given up from sadness, pain and deprivation of love, must be called liberated. Both kittens had an accident on the road. Nobody knows what really happened. But what we do know 100 per cent is that you don't just put an animal that has had an accident with a car on the road in a cage and leave it to its fate on the cold concrete floor. One of the cats suffered a severe blow to the head, the other lost its tail after the accident.
We find it really hard to understand how someone can be so heartless. The two cats are now being allowed to recover from the accident, they are being treated by vets and have completed their time in hospital. Both were allowed to move into the big cat enclosure and are now allowed to settle in properly. Little Stella, the cat with the amputated tail, has managed to assert herself and is now enjoying life outside the cattery in our yard. She jumps, she runs, she plays..... a happy life in the midst of the everyday happenings at Finca Noah. No, she's not just there, she's always right in the middle of it.

In addition to the work we do every day for the animals, we are still collecting donations to buy a farm. In September's newsletter, I told you in detail what happened to us. I told you about the advert and that as a result the rental contract for Finca Noah would not be renewed. We have to leave Finca Noah on 30 October 2024 with over 200 animals, it said.
After a long search, we have finally found a farm, but we don't have the money to buy it, so we have started a fundraising campaign. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us with a donation and helped us to reach our goal step by step. Thank you for your trust, thank you for believing in us and on behalf of the animals, thank you for being there. We have not yet reached our goal of being able to buy a farm with all the licences and legal stables we need for the animals. Therefore we needed a quick solution. Our lawyer actually managed to get an extension so that we no longer have the great fear of sitting on the street with the animals. We have now been given a little time to find a solution as quickly as possible. We really need every single one of you. We have already experienced and achieved so much. Now we also have to manage the move to a new home.
We would like to take this opportunity to once again say a big thank you to the Salto family. We have been given a great opportunity for which we are infinitely grateful. The Benefit Gala in aid of Animal Police will take place on 27 November 2024 in Kloten/Zurich. The Gala Premiere is the focus of the animals the whole evening. Such a great gesture, which we really appreciate.
We would like to thank the Salto family, Anja Walder and her whole team who are now working flat out to ensure that we have an unforgettable evening on 27 November and that we achieve great things.
Get a ticket and help us to buy the animals the home they urgently need and deserve.
Give your loved ones a ticket for Christmas. A unique opportunity to give two gifts in one. You make people and animals happy with one gift....

We thank you on behalf of the animals for reading and for your support.
Nadine and the whole Animal Police team.
