Hello dear readers. I, Nadine from the Animal Police Team Mallorca, would like to tell you a bit about everyday life in animal welfare this month. With this newsletter we hope to give you a little impression of what it means to work tirelessly in animal welfare on a daily basis.
Addendum to the April newsletter
Our mare Nebraska has made it. After being looked after daily by our equine vet for a long time, she is doing well again today. After the antibiotic treatment, she had to take a vitamin supplement for three weeks, and now she is doing splendidly again. She runs around with her horse buddies, grazes and enjoys the carefree life that Animal Police has made possible for her with her rescue. Nebraska is now 26 years old and we hope she stays healthy and happy for a long time to come when it's time to saddle up the horses for a ride. We would like to thank you for your sympathy and for keeping your fingers crossed. There is news in the cat enclosure of the rescued cats from the killing centre of Son Reus. We reported in April that we were able to free 6 cats from their small cages. With two cats we realised that even after 6 weeks they still don't want to know anything about humans, are only grateful when they get something to eat, otherwise they just want to be left alone. As we could not place these cats in a loving forever home and could no longer see them locked up in our cat enclosure, we gave them their freedom and lo and behold, they are no longer stressed, are not afraid when you approach them and stay put when you give them their food in their bowls. It's nice to see them enjoying their freedom now....
Scary moment in the cat enclosure!
The white cat with his bright green eyes has had to fight all his life. He fought his way through life on the streets of Mallorca. Then he suddenly ended up in a small cage at Son Reus, the killing centre, sadly waiting to have his pretty little head stroked. He has a few scars and fight marks all over his body. So we know that his previous life was not the best. Maybe that's why he likes to cuddle so much, he has a lot of catching up to do. When we were cleaning the cat enclosure every day, the little tomcat Snow walked towards us limping on three legs to greet us in a friendly manner. We were shocked and immediately took him to the vet. Our vet Toni decided after the examination and x-rays that Snow had to be operated on by a vet colleague in Palma. Snow had broken his hip joint. We had to take him to Palma immediately. After the operation, the healing process was not as it should have been, we thought. Once again little Snow had to go to the vet clinic in Palma. The operation on the hip joint went well, we were told. It was discovered that Snow has a pinched nerve in his spine from an older injury and is now inflamed. Snow will have to take medication for a fortnight so that the inflammation subsides and he will hopefully be able to move his leg again without any problems. Even before the accident, the lovely Sarah from Germany fell in love with Snow and wants to give him a warm and loving home. Many hands are waiting to spoil him all day long. She was devastated when she heard the news that Snow had to have an operation. She was very happy that the operation would go well and that Snow would get better quickly. Despite his injury and the uncertainty of how he will be after the operation, Sarah still wants to give Snow a home. We are in contact almost every day and she can hardly wait until Snow can finally pack his bags, check out of the Hotel Finca Noah and travel to her in Germany.
Rescue at the last minute!
In the neighbouring village of Cala d'Or, directly in the marina where the rich and beautiful have their boats moored, a large colony of cats is looked after. The cats there share a small section of footpath, ditch and bushes with wild chickens. They are fed from time to time. The lady who looks after the cats there is completely overwhelmed, the cats have not been neutered for a long time and the number is increasing. In January this year we, Animal Police, offered to help her with the neutering. The majority of the cats were caught. One female and apparently some males were hiding and were not caught. Kirstin saw the female cat heavily pregnant and called us immediately. Kirstin took the cat to our vet who confirmed by ultrasound that there were two little kittens who would see the light of day in a few days. Without hesitation, we set up our carantaine station for the mum cat and waited with great joy for her babies to arrive soon. Four days later the time had come. Mum gave birth to two kittens. One sweet white and one red and white kitten. Mum is a lion mummy, she takes good care of her babies. She hisses at anyone who tries to touch the babies. But when mummy needs a little break from the babies, she is a cuddly one, and invites you to stroke her. Kirstin and her husband have flown back to Germany, but will return to Finca Noah in mid-June, as they will adopt Mummy and take her back to Germany with them. We are very happy that they are so committed to this cat. You have given her the chance to have her babies in a safe place and not on the street, possibly in the cold damp night, in the rain, without protection from the dangers that lurk on the street. We have received an enquiry for two small kittens, maybe the little ones will be lucky and get a home quickly. We do not yet have a 100 per cent commitment. So it remains to be seen whether there will be a happy ending with a place on the sofa for these little rascals. So, if one of you dear, hard-working readers has fallen in love with the two shocks, you are welcome to get in touch with us. The little ones are still enjoying the care of their mum for a while, still have to grow a bit and can still be really cheeky kittens. Until they are old enough for their vaccinations.
Neighbourly help!
Our Mallorcan neighbour and now friend Xisco, got to know a different side of animal husbandry and animal love through Farah and Animal Police. Apparently a side that has made him and his children think. Because he listened to Farah and had his dogs neutered with the help of Animal Police instead of keeping them as birthing machines. Even if he needs advice on dog ownership or dog behaviour, he can call at any time and we are there to help and advise him. Xisco called Farah and told her about a little dog that belongs to his father. A little brown 11-year-old dog that has lived outside in the yard all her life, locked up in a small cage of about 20 square metres. Day and night, every day, in all weathers. Leftover food from the kitchen was put out for her to eat. When Farah set off to take a look at the situation, she came up with a plan because she knew that the stubborn Mallorcan wouldn't give up his dog voluntarily. When Farah saw the little dog, she immediately realised how she could help her. Because little Juna has an ulcer on her stomach, so big that it is visible and, above all, noticeable to everyone. Farah has told the Mallorcan that she needs to see a vet immediately, that it looks like a tumour, that she will probably need an operation and that he will be faced with high vet costs. If he is prepared to hand little Juna over to Animal Police so that we can find a nice home for her, Animal Police will cover the vet costs. Because one thing was immediately clear, this dog cannot and must not stay there. Surprisingly, he agreed to this. Once again on the way to the vet to see what the ulcer was. Breathe a sigh of relief, because it is not malignant, it does need to be treated, but there is no danger to his life. A little timid and reserved at first, Juna made friends with the pack of dogs on the farm after a few days at the finca. She was allowed to lie in a warm basket and dog bed in the house for the first time and now never has to sleep outside in the dark in wind and weather. The plan that we were looking for a nice home for Juna was quickly cancelled. Because Juna has chosen her place in life, her new family, her dog friends and above all her soul mate herself..... Juna sticks to Farah like a postage stamp, following her wherever she goes. She barks and gets very nervous when she can hear Farah but can't see her. So it was clear to us that this time we wouldn't have to look for a home for this little mouse, she did it herself. Juna is now part of the private dog pack and can't believe her luck yet. She is blossoming more and more from day to day. You get the feeling that she has been with us for ages. A really great and easy-care dog who just wants to have a person by her side to give her love. Okay, little Juna also loves food and dog treats. So we have a new family for Juna. We are still looking for a sponsor for the little mouse. A sponsor mum, sponsor dad or sponsor family. You can support Animal Police with a regular donation to cover the running costs for the animals.
On behalf of the animals, we thank you for all your support.

Hello dear and loyal newsletter readers. Every month I write to you about the stories and events of the rescued animals that stay with us at the finca.
April, a month full of emotions... Nebraska is in a bad way Nebraska, our 26-year-old mare, has been causing us great concern for days.....In December 2022
Dear readers, the popular newsletter is online again. Many of you have asked again and again when the newsletter will be back. We would like to share our life with you again.
My life belongs to the animals. I dedicate myself day and night to rescuing abused, injured and homeless animals on Mallorca. I built Finca Noah with my own funds to give these maltreated souls a second chance.
But now everything I have fought for is about to come to an end. I have been fined €200,000 following a complaint about unauthorised wooden stables and have been forced to leave the finca. I have been threatened that all my animals will be taken away and sent to the largest killing centre in Mallorca.
Now I need your help to save the lives of these animals. With your donation, we can create a new, safe home that meets all official requirements. Every donation counts and gives these animals the chance of a loving life they so deserve.
