A week in the service of animals
It has long been my dream to do something for animals - because my heart belongs to them. When a good colleague told me about her stay at Finca Noah in Mallorca and raved about it, I knew it was the right thing to do. So I got in touch with Farrah and immediately received a super friendly voice message. Soon everything was agreed and on 6 August 2023 I started my trip to Mallorca.
After a short drive in my hire car, I arrived at the finca. I was warmly welcomed by a donkey, a horse and a pack of barking dogs. One of the first things I noticed was that it was extremely tidy and clean.
So I moved into Casa Jeannine, a cosy tiny house right on the finca. I started the evening with my first evening round - here I was thoroughly introduced to everything. I was also made aware of everything, which is very important to Farah =) I was prepared for the fact that she takes everything very seriously - and that's how it is. Sometimes it's a bit strict, maybe even a bit annoying =) The prize, however, is the cleanliness and tidiness - which I noticed right at the beginning - which, as a typical Swiss woman, I also really appreciate.
So the days went by - Farah hadn't promised me anything wrong - the daily routine consists of mucking out, mucking out, feeding, picking up dog poo, mucking out, mucking out feeding, playing, walking dogs and then starting all over again. I was warned that it would be tough - and it absolutely was. However, the feeling you get in the evening after a physically demanding day, the joy you see in the eyes of the animals, is pricelessly beautiful.
So after a week I returned home physically tired but with an extremely happy heart. I had a great time with Farah, Nadine and Gina. We laughed a lot, motivated each other and simply had a good time.
I take my hat off to the whole team, who look after the welfare of the animals every day, with only short and few breaks.
So I can recommend a stay at Finca Noah to anyone who, like me, wants to experience the feeling of doing something really meaningful - if you are motivated, can and want to get stuck in, are not afraid to get your hands dirty - then YOU are exactly the right person. The animals will thank you for your commitment with their love.
All the love
- Steffi
