At the beginning of March, all seemed well...
...suddenly we received shocking news about the extent of COVID19.
From one day to the next, life changed - also for us - on the beautiful island of Mallorca.
Within 24 hours a curfew was imposed. This means for us animal welfare activists that we can no longer - as usual - do justice to our animals.
For example, the private cat colonies are now only fed 2 times a week instead of daily. (Status 30 March 2020)
This regulation is not only causing us animal rights activists sleepless nights.
Even the Mallorcan is prohibited the regular feeding of his animals on external fincas / campos. Since today is fatally public that there is no certainty that pets can not transmit the virus.
Consequently, the animals are left to their fate on their external fincas/campos.
We are really at a loss for words!
At the beginning of March Animal Police was able to rescue 3 lambs. These should be eaten for a celebration.
Completely emaciated we took in the 3 lambs. Unfortunately 2 lambs did not make it due to the consequences of starvation.
Little Paul - called POI by us, has made it and delights us every day with his baby charm.(s.pictures)
We want and need to keep going somehow - we constantly get emergency calls that we can't follow up on because of this curfew. The fines here range from 600€ - 30'000€. No animal rights activist can afford this financial risk.
We try to activate our neighbourly network further, so that we can help one or the other animal.
NOW IS THE TIME WHEN IT IS MORE THAN IMPORTANT TO HELP TOGETHER!
It also hits us at Finca Noah right in the heart. We can no longer manage our everyday life here as usual, because both our volunteers and our connected friends are no longer allowed to help.
Of course we understand the current situation of the people, but especially in these difficult times we must not forget the weakest link in the chain - the animal.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all donors.
With your support we would still be able to make the impossible possible.
Together we will also master this difficult time!
A special moment was given to us by the company QUALIPET from Bern, in which they secured the food supply for our animals for the next time. Here it is natural for us that we will supply the whole island with this donated food.
Now it is up to us to organize and finance the necessary transport of 16 BODEN-PALETTS from Switzerland to Mallorca!
WILL YOU HELP US? It would be so important!!!!
buy'N'help - shop and do good at the same time
We are very happy to announce that we are now registered with buy'n'help? The following video explains how you can support our association easily & for free by ordering the things you buy anyway with buy'n'help.
THANKS TO ALL DONORS
First of all, we would like to thank all our donors from the bottom of our hearts!
Above all, we are infinitely grateful to you for not forgetting us at a time like this. We appreciate this immensely and of course our animals are incredibly grateful! Without you Animal Police would not exist and we would never have the chance to continue fighting for the animals, come what may. Together we are strong and overcome any crisis! Long live animal lovers! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
RESCUE OPERATION FOR THREE SHEEP
At the beginning of March, before the crisis period, Animal Police was able to rescue three sheep. The poor ones were advertised as a feast and were already close to the end of their existence. Animal Police was fortunately able to save the three at the last minute. Sadly, one of them was terminally ill and went straight to Marlene's care. We thank Marlen for taking in the poor sheep and nursing it back to health.
The sweet Poi (abgl. Paul) can enjoy his life at Finca Noah and is over happy with us. He already became a fat friend of the shepherd Eloy and is allowed to go for a long walk every day.
P.S.
For a given occasion, we will explain the important function of a flight sponsorship in the next few days. As soon as the air traffic is open again, your HELP in the form of a flight sponsorship would be vital for the animals!
Sincerely
The Animal Police Team
